Milo Steel supplied the 20-foot water processing containers for the Virotec environmental remediation project in Central Queensland. We modified standard containers into the wastewater treatment containers by installing steel floors, beams, manhole access, and pipe fittings. The vertical walls are reinforced with 65x65x5.0 square hollow section (SHS) members, which are suitable for structural reinforcement. Meanwhile, 150 parallel flange channel (PFC) roof cross beams are placed on the locations of the agitators. PFC section members allow more resistance to buckling and provide strength characteristics. Openings are cut on the roof for the agitator support plate, inlet pipes, closing holes, and overflow holes. Container doors are removed and replaced with a steel plate with a manhole, and steel plates are welded on the container floor. The welding works and other related processes in making the modified water processing container are in compliance with AS/NZS 1554.1 SP.
