Product: G:link Diamond Tracks Repair
Application: G:link
Sectors: Rail; Government
Location: South East Queensland
Milo Steel provided the repair works on the CrNi defects in the diamond crossing tracks of Gold Coast Light Rail or G:link. Inspection of the tracks showed porosity and cracks. The surface of the tracks have to be cleaned and grinded of all dirt, abrasive burrs, roll-over, and crumbling before welding the area. Manual metal arc or MMA welding is done to join the cleaned area after preheating both sides and the top of the rail. The welded part then has to be grinded again to the required shape to ensure the surface passes smoothly without sharp edges, notches, and undercuts.
Milo Steel has given the client a full scope Manufacturer’s Data Reports (MDR), which we provide for all technical projects.
G:link runs for 20 kilometres from Helensvale to BroadbeMilo South and is a part of the TransLink South East Queensland network. The light rail serviced 10.74 million passengers in 2018-2019.
