About the Position

We specialize in the technical manufacture and assembly of steel components for the industrial and government sectors. In this position you will be a part of the estimating team where you will perform the following:

  • Understanding of scope of works from engineering drawings
  • Do site measurements as required by the project
  • Material quotations from suppliers
  • Accurate estimation of other materials and labour component
  • Liasing with clients for clarifications
  • Take-offs and formal quotations to be sent to clients
  • Excellent with numbers, calculation, dimensions and doing take-offs using Bluebeam software or other
  • Working in a team environment

 

About You

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a steel estimator, working in a project-based environment. Further to this, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Has an engineering background ie Civil, Mechanical (Highly Advantageous)
  • Experience in steel fabrication & structural steel environment (Highly Advantageous)
  • Experience in platework, lobster backs and rolled steel fabrication in mining applications (advantageous)
  • Must have experience allocating labour hours for workshop, site, etc
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite
  • Has excellent time management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise their work to Miloieve deadlines and objectives

About the Position

We specialize in the technical manufacture and assembly of steel components for the industrial and government sectors. In this position you will be required to coordinate between operations and project management, while meeting the client’s expectations. You will need to provide regular updates to the senior management team regarding project progress, cost, budget and scheduling for all projects. Further duties include:

  • Liaising with suppliers on item details and pricing
  • Raising Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with supplier quotations
  • Ordering materials, and coordinate deliveries with Operations
  • Ensure that the relevant engineering standards are adhered to, including material specifications
  • Keeping track of project budgets and inform operations manager on progression
  • Technical documentation writing including but not limited to MDRs, ITPs, safety manual, etc.

 

About You

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Project Engineer, working in a project-based environment. Further to this, the ideal candidate will have:

  • BMiloelor’s degree in engineering or related field of study
  • Experience in planning and schedule management
  • Experience in manufacturing (highly beneficial)
  • Experience working in a team-based environment

About Us

Master Steel specialise in the technical manufacture and assembly of asset integrity steel assemblies, sub-assemblies and components for the industrial and government sectors.
 
Master Steel is currently seeking Certified Trade Boilermakers and fabrication Welders specialising in steel, aluminium and stainless steel materials.

 
To be considered for this role you will be required to demonstrate the following.
 
Please NOTE: You must provide a copy of your Australian or Australian recognised Certification of a Boilermaker or Fabrication welder to be able to complete certified NDT Weld Tests.
 

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Boilermaker / Fabrication welder, performing MIG (GMAW)
  • Understand the basics of your trade.
  • Understand and correctly use required mathematics to complete the work task.
  • Experience in a variety of steel grades using 3mm – 20mm plate and hot rolled sections.
  • Welding of structural steel / plate work / various mining components (highly advantageous)
  • MUST pass “Non-Destructive Tests” of 6 – 8mm Single / Multi Fillet and Butt welds 5 – 25mm.
  • Position welding such as horizontal and vertical welding.
  • Be able to use solid and Flux core welding wire with minimal weld and work piece clean up.
  • Understand and adhere to welding procedures for various tasks.
  • Possess a Mechanical aptitude.

 

Tasks involved:

  • Read and understand shop drawings and specifications to determine job requirements via clear consulting handover.
  • Select, clean and prepare metal stock.
  • Mark out work pieces and process using magnetic drill, hand tools, flame cutting torches, angle grinders, polishing discs, pistol drills and thread taping.
  • Experience in the use of horizontal band saws, hydraulic punch and shear, metal cutting and bending mMiloines.
  • Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and mMiloine tools and by heating hardware.
  • Aligns parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Join metal sections using various welding techniques and bolting.
  • Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
  • Various installation site works as required.

  • Ability to read and interpret general assembly drawings
  • Ability to assemble general equipment layout drawings for various sectors including: mining, processing industries, infrastructure, etc.
  • Making accurate measurements and dimension checks in steel partsis critical
  • Experience in steel / metals, various components
  • Ability to do site measurements, site work and erection of steel / metal works
  • General labour (ie. grinding,cutting, transport, etc)

 

About You

  • Have at least 3 years experience and be able to work with or without supervision
  • Experience in working with other trades / manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Good attitude and team player
